Was it not the reason they decided to operate in san Salvador. This mine could mean a whole new lifestyle for many San Salvadorians, it seems that jealousy is also prevalent in the country. An agreement is an agreement and the exploration should go on with close monitoring by the Salvadorian Government.
Will El Salvador be forced to pay $301 million for valuing clean water over gold? 2015-04-13T19:46:54Z https://www.equaltimes.org/will-el-salvador-be-forced-to-pay#comment96573 2015-04-13T19:46:54Z
This is a travesty and another example of how our 'good' trade agreements are nothing of the sort. Companies can sue other countries because the country feels what the company wants to do is against the common good for both people and the environment. We've done it to Canada. And it can be done to us. This is madness and is a slap in the face to a country's sovereignty. On a personal level, it would be like you wanting to throw your garbage in my yard and my refusal would be an infringement on your desire to increase your income by not having to pay your garbage bill. These trade agreements are awful. I stand with El Salvador and, as we learn more about these race agreements maybe it's time to overturn them.
