Morena Pérez Joachín (Guatemala, 1984) is a freelance photojournalist and documentary maker. Her work is currently focused on issues related to migration, Afro-descendants and Indigenous peoples. She also covers environmental issues and has documented topics related to the country’s historical memory. A contributor to international news agencies and media outlets such as Deutsche Press Agency (DPA), LA Times, The New Humanitarian, Deutsche Welle, Texas Observer and National Geographic, she was awarded second place in the ICFJ Prize for Global Health Reporting in 2021.
