Philip Jennings was the General Secretary of FIET from 1989 to1999 and UNI Global Union from 2000 to 2018. In 2017, he was appointed to the ILO Commission on the Future of Work. As the co-Chair of the ILO Child Labour Council, he has amplified the call for the end of child labour and underlined the urgent need to tackle it throughout global supply chains. He serves on the board of the UN Global Compact (since 2011), and has taken leadership roles in the broader international trade union movement and was Chair of the Council of Global Unions and a member of the ITUC General Council.
